This country can easily be divided into a classic binary opposition with a single question: pro-life or pro-choice? However, the simple division does no good, rather it reduces a complex issue to simplistic terms which is counterproductive and harmful.
The pro-life side of the debate often claims the position of the “moral high ground” and condemns the act of abortion at all costs (or most costs, there are some pro-life people who agree to certain degrees of abortions, depending on the circumstances). In this dichotomy, pro-choice proponents are placed in the subornation position, equating pro-choice with pro-abortion.
However, boxing pro-choice into a singular defining feature detracts completely from the entire point of being pro-choice. Pro-choice does not equate to being pro-abortion. To be pro-choice is to be for life. For the life of the child and the mother.
